“No Ba*** to Fight a Top Contender”- Tony Ferguson Goes After Conor McGregor in Latest Twitter Call-Out

UFC lightweight Tony Ferguson took to Twitter and continued his series of call-outs with Conor McGregor being the most recent target. ‘El Cucuy’ has been hitting the headlines as of late following his first call-out of Michael Chandler. It seems as though Tony is keen to end the year on a high note and he wants a fight.

The former interim champion initially spoke out on fighting Michael Chandler some time on the upcoming December events. Several marquee match-ups have fallen through in December and a Ferguson vs Chandler match would be huge. However, it would seem as though Ferguson isn’t short on options when it comes to lightweights.

UFC lightweights: Tony Ferguson vs Conor McGregor

‘El Cucuy’ is coming off a loss to Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight strap. The fight came together on short notice and Gaethje slashed Tony’s 12-fight win streak. Not to mention, he was also responsible for taking away the title shot Ferguson had earned. This left the former TUF winner out in the cold once more, a narrative he was all too familiar with.

Although a match-up against Dustin Poirier was teased for UFC 254 in October, the bout never came to fruition. Despite his fifth-round TKO loss to Gaethje, Tony still remains an elite combatant in the division. His next fight will serve as a guaranteed marquee bout and fans will be excited to see the overall evolution of his game.

Conor McGregor last fought back in January 2020 where he stunned Donald Cerrone with a 40-second TKO. The bout took place at welterweight and showcased the fact that McGregor was back in prime shape. However, he’s now back in the lightweight division and has his sights firmly affixed towards UFC gold.

Lightweight scrap: How do things play out?

‘The Notorious’ would be heavily favored in a fight against Tony Ferguson due to the stylistic elements he brings forth. He’s a fast starter and can capitalize on the unorthodox defensive techniques that Tony employs. Additionally, Conor has greatly improved takedown defense through his training for his bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

There’s no question that a bout between McGregor and Ferguson would be a massive spectacle for fans. Both athletes have their unique style on the mic and their ability to put on a blistering performance in the cage speaks for itself.
